Deacon Tara Jernigan - Spiritual Director

Tara is a native of East Tennessee and grew up in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Experiences similar to Happening allowed her to step into Christian leadership during high school, which continued in college with Canterbury Club and her first term on vestry at the Episcopal church across the street from campus.  Tara moved to the Pittsburgh region to attend seminary at Trinity School for Ministry in 1996, and was ordained a vocational deacon in 2004.  She serves as the Director of Deacon Formation here in the Diocese of Pittsburgh; and also serves in Parish Ministry at St. Elizabeth's Anglican Mission, a church plant in Bridgeville, PA.  Her absolute passion in ministry is equipping Christians of all ages with the word of God and encouraging those who are in ministry.  When left to her own devices, she enjoys baseball, history (European, American, and Korean), photography, ethnic cooking (and eating), reading (everything from theology to historical novels and the occasional mystery), travel, and anything she can manage to do outside on a sunny day!  Tara and her husband have three sons, the eldest of whom is a current Happener.  Tara can be reached by e-mail at: tjernigan@randomly.com.
